Pines
Edit SpotAbout
A nice hollow wave when I have seen it, the flat rocks underneath help make for consistent peaks.
Atmosphere:
I'm not a local, but I thought I would put up a couple of pics from an end of week mission myself and a couple of friends did.
Apologies for the quality, they are from a video camera, and it was getting dark.
We chased a big south swell, but it was flat and onshore the next morning. It seems the winter season has been exceptional this year - 2002.
Everytime I've been to Gisborne it has a had nice clean waves. Like alot of NZ surf areas, it's a little out of the way from the larger cities, but life is great once you are there.

Just up the road from Wainui, turn right at the store/gas station, where you see some pine trees on a little hill.
