Wijiya Beach
Edit SpotAbout
For Sri Lanka this is about as convenient as it gets, uncrowded, close to town and other spots and with a chilled group of locals and beach side accomodation, a premium in SL at the moment!
Atmosphere:
Friendly regulars and a choice of quality reef breaks along a 400 meter stretch of coast. Although badly damaged by the tsunami the Wijiya Beach Cottages have rooms available and the boys are busy getting their lives back together. There are a couple of bars along this stretch but before the wave came the one at the cottages was the one to watch the sunset from.
Additional Info:
Several breaks here, a left running along the reef edge- which you should be careful not to get caught too deep on, and a right that's nice and easy for those with less ability. When that closes out there's several serious lefts just the other side of Frog Rock - ask the boys at Wijiya Beach cottages how to get out to them.
