Inlet Shoals
Edit SpotAbout
Basically I don't know because I haven't surfed it. Looks scary and intimidating being so far off the coast. Course, it aint no Cortes Bank, that's for sure!
From the looks of things, it appears that on the right day, with a few beers, a good crew, and the right skipper, you can have one epic surf trip right in good old Maryland.
Atmosphere:
These shoals lie just within view from the Jetty straight out and appear from shore to be roping lefts and rights that peel flawlessly forever and break with a punch. The look from the beach is an awesome sight...you just want to hop on a skiff and go!
Additional Info:
This is a day trip with a few friends and a skipper, perhaps. I have not been out there personally, but I wanted to post this spot to see if others will post information about it and their experiences. I have spoken with enough locals to put it on this website and get you out there if you choose to go. The locals who have surfed it say: Once it's on there are about 8-10 breaks out there; it's deep; it's probably got a few sharks here and there; the rides last forever (dude said: "Probably not as long as some some breaks in Costa Rica, but almost"). More local info.: It seems to only break when there is considerable swell, and since it's a bit further out, it acts a swell magnet. Also, since the shoals never break surface, the swells will wrap around the sandbar and produce some clean waves even when condition are onshore in Ocean City.

You need a boat. It's about a half-mile out from the tip of the inlet jetty in Ocean City. When it's big, you can see it breaking ou there from the Jetty.
